Routine & Acute GP Consultations

GP consultations are needed to diagnose complaints, prescribe a new medicine, monitor an ongoing prescription or order a blood test.
It is helpful to give some brief details when requesting the appointment as the Dr triages (reviews) all the Appointment requests. If it is very private or personal, we find that usually ‘Women’s problems’/ ‘Men’s problems’/ ‘Stress’ covers same.
Sometimes the Dr will arrange for blood tests or a Nurse Assessment firstly, in advance of the Dr appointment.
Requesting Your Appointment
Please note the GP surgery receptionist is not simply someone who answers the phone - they are specially trained to help you get the most appropriate treatment as fast as possible. In order to do this, they may need to ask you questions about why you need to see a doctor.
-
Urgent cases will be seen on the day where possible but we may not be able to offer a choice of doctor or time.
-
If it gets to 6 o’clock in the evening & we have been unable to see you, & you are too unwell to wait until the next day, please contact Caredoc (0818) 300 365.
-
If the Doctor is unable to cover everything in 1 consultation for you, a further appointment will be arranged.
